The Donald: "Newt's a member, so I love my members."

Jackie Kucinich reports that Donald Trump is again weighing a bid for the Presidency if Republicans "pick somebody who is, in my opinion, the wrong person … and if the economy continues to be bad, I might run as an independent."

But has The Donald boxed himself into a corner should Newt Gingrich--member of a Trump club--get the nomination? He also tells Kucinich:

"I have a lot of respect for Newt," Trump said. "Newt's a member, so I love my members. I always love my members."

Gingrich, who recently topped TheDes Moines Register poll of potential caucusgoers with 25% of the vote and has campaigned as a person with insider knowledge and an outsider's perspective, took up the sport after leaving the House of Representatives in 1999, according to the Gingrich Productions website.

"Today, he loves the challenge of hitting a long drive and sinking a short putt," the website says. "He's confident that with practice, he will someday learn the game."

R.C. Hammond, a spokesman for Gingrich, confirmed both Gingrich and his wife are members of Trump's club but said, "I wouldn't call what Newt does 'golfing.' I would say it is closer to walking with an occasional use of a golf club."

"From what I understand, Callista is better off the tee while Newt excels in saving par with clutch shots from the rough," he said.
