Bellerive Just Won't Go Away!

Dan O'Neill reports the dreadful news that Bellerive wants to subject its Reestored course to a golfing public not really clamoring for yet another Reestored, humid, slog of a mundane Midwest PGA venue.

The West County club, which has been the home of major professional golf events in St. Louis, has recently taken a vote to approve the bid. While confirming the pursuit of the two championships, the Bellerive statement emphasizing nothing has been finalized. Sources with the PGA of America indicated the selection announcement could come as early as next week.

“It’s no secret Bellerive would like to hold future golf championships,” the club’s statement said. “We have nothing official to report at this moment.”

Bellerive is competing with 13 other clubs to secure the two PGA championships.

Let's hope there are alternatives in that group that include better courses in temperate climates.
