U.S. Women's Open May Be Headed For Monday Finish

I can type this because I'm not there and don't care how long they take, but Randall Mell explains the potential scenarios after most of round one was not played due to thunderstorms. The forecast the next two days isn't great either.

The first round is scheduled to resume at 7:45 a.m. Mountain Time on Friday. Kimball said the final threesomes in the first round are expected to go off at 9:42 a.m. If the weather cooperates, the second round is expected to begin at 1:30 p.m. but won’t be completed on Friday. The second round’s final threesome isn’t scheduled to start until 9:12 p.m., an unlikely start.

Even with good weather Friday, the second round wouldn’t be completed until Saturday morning, when the cut would be made.

Kimball said the USGA will consider starting players on the first and 10th tees in threesomes instead of twosomes in the third and final rounds to try to conclude play by Sunday evening. The size of the cut will dictate what happens.

On a bright note, folks have been calling for LPGA tournaments to finish on days other than Sunday so this should give everyone a little flavor of how that will feel. As always, just trying to find the silver lining...
