All Systems Go At TPC Boston

All events will go on as scheduled, starting with Tuesday’s Red Sox Legends & Friends Pro-Am

NORTON, Mass. (August 29, 2011) – Officials from the Deutsche Bank Championship, TPC Boston and the PGA TOUR announced today that the impact of Hurricane Irene on the golf course was minimal, and all events during Championship Week are expected to go on as scheduled.

The Deutsche Bank Championship will be played Friday, Sept. 2-Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day), with the Red Sox Legends & Friends Pro-Am scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 30 and the official Championship pro-am scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 1.

Damage to TPC Boston and temporary structures in place for the Championship was limited to a number of fallen trees and downed power lines. In advance of the storm, large temporary structures were reinforced and smaller temporary structures, as well as some signage and the mesh lining surrounding all TV towers, were taken down.

“With the worst of the storm having passed through by early last evening, we have been able to assess our situation, and we feel fortunate that Irene had very little impact here,” said Eric Baldwin, the Championship Director of the Deutsche Bank Championship. “The golf course superintendent will be busy today cleaning up some minor messes, and our operations crew will put in some extra hours reassembling some of the structures taken down before the storm and ensuring the safety of all our spectators. By the time we hold our Opening Ceremonies on Tuesday morning, fans won’t notice anything different.”
