Walker Cup Captain Is Amateur Golfer Of The Year?

The USGA's peculiar relationship with Global Golf Post took on a new dimension Monday with the USGA.org posting of GGP's American amateur golfers of the year.

In utterly pathetic and mind-boggling fashion, "golfs first digital-only publication" named Walker Cup Senior Cart Driver Jim Holtgrieve its male "Amateur of the Year In America."

With $1.4 million in Champions Tour earnings, it's hard to imagine ever having been given "amateur" status ever again, much less given awards as the leading amateur in America when you're primary achievement entailed spinning an EZ-GO around National Golf Links for a week without running over anyone.

Do we envy under 25 flatbellies that much? Pathetic.
