Video: The Mood For Merion, 9th Hole Flyover

Bobby Jones hit 3-iron here in 1930 when the hole was 170 yards, but now at 236 they'll still have a fairly long iron for today's players, at least to the back part of the 39-pace deep green. Though it should be fun to see what Mike Davis and Tom O'Toole do to mix up the yardages here.

This par-3 sits beautifully in the landscape, with the elevated tee and the inviting look of the shot for righthanders who draw the ball. But like the third hole, this one-shotter is going to cause a lot of trouble played to its maximum yardage. However, players should get plenty of time to study it. With the driveable 10th following, expect some big back-ups here.
