Woods Foundation CEO Leaves For PGA Tour Gig

Credit crack scoopster Golf Channel Digital for noting the departure of Tiger Woods Foundation CEO Greg McLaughlin after 14 years for an undisclosed PGA Tour job.

Tiger Tweeted and Facebook posted the news. Who says Tiger isn't social media savvy?

I first met Greg McLaughlin back in 1991. The next year, he played a big part in my first-ever exemption to play on the PGA TOUR at the Nissan Open at Riviera. Over the years and about 10,000 sports trivia questions later, our friendship grew as he went on to become the President and CEO of my Foundation. Although he's decided to move on to the PGA TOUR, I'm so thankful for the leadership and good times he's provided over the last 14 years. Thanks to your hard work, Greg, the Foundation has exciting things ahead. All the best to you.

The timing is interesting. The July 4 PGA Tour event hosted by the Woods Foundation at Congressional one more time will be searching for a sponsor if AT&T does not renew after this year, while the sponsorship situation for Woods' World Challenge remains unsettled as it makes a one-year move to Orlando before going to the Bahamas in 2015.

In the 2011 Form 990 posted for the Foundation (the most recent available), McLaughlin collected $422,052 in compensation. And you know what this means? McLaughlin took the Finchem Personality Test in Atlanta, got a "will nod his head approvingly" and adds another $500k-a-year executive to the Ponte Vedra payroll.
