Video: Gil & The Donald's World And We're Just Living In It

Before the clips of our Doral Blue Monster walk-through for Morning Drive, the early reviews from Trump National are in and the players are positive. Not that they have a choice unless they want to be fined! Still, they could be taking the fifth, instead many caddies and players told Jim McCabe they like what they see.

As caddies walked quietly and took notes, players started to filter onto the new and improved practice range and there to meet them was Trump himself. He talked with Bill Haas, greeted Hunter Mahan and Luke Donald, held court with Zach Johnson, and briefly with Justin Rose.

The whole time, Hanse stood at the far corner of the range just absorbing some of the comments he had heard. Sergio Garcia has given it thumbs up, with particular praise for the re-vamped seventh and 14th holes, while Stricker mentioned that the hole he disliked the most – the par-3 13th – had been made into one he really liked.

Hanse nodded, but he knows how this needs to be played out. “It’s fine and it’s nice to hear,” he said, “but we have to let them play and then see, don’t we?”

Brian Wacker played with Hanse on opening day and profiles the redesign project.

PGATour.com also features a hole-by-hole graphic-heavy course tour.

Jeff Shain reports on the incredible job by superintendent Don Thornburgh, with the full lowdown on the agronomic miracle of growing in an all new course in just a few months.

And the walk-through first aired on Morning Drive today, where we focus on the finishing holes:
