The PLAYERS Must Go On, Even Without Vijay

It's almost Dickensian, the plight of Vijay Singh not able to play in the event he has called his hometown tourney for years. But the 50-year-old is the third alternate and oh yes, he's suing the PGA Tour. Multi-faceted!

Rex Hoggard writes of Vijay's saga and the lawsuit, filed a year ago, that seems like just yesterday when it was filed. But now it seems to be on the slow track. I just hope Vijay can get by!

According to an adjusted conference order, all of the depositions will be completed by Dec. 19 and the deadline for the discovery phase of the lawsuit is June 30, 2015.

The “note of issue,” which is used to have the court’s clerk enter a case into the calendar for trial, is due by Aug. 31, 2015. Which means the lawsuit will not likely go to trial until the end of next year or the beginning of 2016.

It is a long, drawn out process that at least partially explains Singh’s pedestrian play.

Has he thought of trying deer antler spray? He'd get big points in the irony department.

Alex Miceli dissects the latest on the case and the essential issue at hand: was Vijay treated differently than others? He may have been and that is certainly a worthy cause to pursue. It just would be nicer if he made it easier to root for his cause if he turns out to have somehow been a victim.
