Matsuyama's Memorial Win Fittingly Ends A Wacky Week

Bob Harig summed up the 2014 Memorial in this lede.

The look on Jack Nicklaus' face spoke volumes early Sunday evening at his pride-and-joy golf course and tournament. It suggested mild disgust, perhaps frustration, and maybe even, "Geez, I would have whipped these guys."

John Strege says it was an “unattractive week” for the PGA Tour, upstaged by the LPGA’s excellent week (Beth Ann Nichols with the story on Stacy Lewis's win), though I’d take more of the unattractiveness…minus the FBI part.

Playoff loser Kevin Na had one consolation prize Sunday: he moved into the world top 60 and doesn't have to play a 36-hole U.S. Open qualifier Monday. Rex Hoggard explains.

“I have to take all the positives. I just got myself into the U.S. Open. That's a big step, obviously,” said Na, who will move into the top 50 in the ranking on Monday. “This will probably get me back inside of top 50 in the world again. After I got hurt last year, it's nice to be probably back in the top 50.”

Steve DiMeglio on the surprisingly good-natured Bubba Watson even after a final round struggle that included a violent OB-shot on 15.
