Video, Photos: Royal Liverpool, A Few Primers

Golf Monthly and host Jeremy Ellwood have done a nice job going hole-by-hole to give some of the subtleties of Royal Liverpool, a very nuanced course that historically has been defended by the great architecture critics (you'll see evidence of that in this week's quotes topping the blog). They also help put in to context how the holes play in the tournament routing versus the every-day setup.

My first glimpse was like so many, slightly stunned at the intimacy and level nature of the ground, but looking forward to seeing how the intricacies play out. I'll be heading out in the morning for a more detailed look and reporting a few thoughts on Morning Drive in the 9 a.m. ET hour.

You can watch the first hole here or below and I'm pretty sure they'll auto play in order through the course.

Eric Hepworth has taken some beautiful images of the course and does so from a slight elevation to help give us a better feel of the holes. He's got one shot of all 18, but I think you'll be impressed.
