Golf.com: DJ Serving Six-Month Suspension For Drug Violation

Michael Bamberger and Mike Walker report that Dustin Johnson failed a drug test and that is the reason for his leave of absence from golf.

From the report:

According to the source, Johnson has failed three drug tests: one for marijuana in 2009 and two for cocaine, in 2012 and 2014. He was previously suspended for the 2012 failed test, but that suspension was never made public. Under the PGA Tour’s drug-testing policies, the Tour is not required to announce any disciplinary actions against players who test positive for recreational drugs.

**Dave Shedloski talked to players about Johnson and they are concerned for their peer.

Rickie Fowler, who had read a portion of the Golf.com story, said Johnson, a neighbor of his in Jupiter, Fla., “obviously faces some challenges in his personal life. Of course I’m worried about him. You never want to see a friend of yours struggle.”
