What Will Tiger Do Next? Torrey Pines 2015 Edition

It wasn't long ago we all wondered how Tiger Woods would spoil us next. What nutt shot would he try and pull off, what hole would he birdie and what tournament would he win in ways we'd never seen before? But oon the eve of his second 2015 start with all signs pointing to further disaster, it's impossible not to wonder what Tiger will do next. 76? 80? Double chip? Bunker shank? Even typing those words would have been unfathomable even six months ago.

Yes, Phil Mickelson said today--because Phil's a nice person who doesn't need the headache--that these short game troubles are a blip and Tiger will work his way out of the short game yips by having the last laugh. (Ryan Lavner reports.)

Phil also said he didn't connect swing issues with his short game but again, kindly said it in a way that did not create controversy. (Hank Gola reports.)

Yet even Tiger is already pointing to the majors and seemed resigned to this being his last start until a Honda-Bay Hill combo as his lone pre-Masters play (Bob Harig reports).

But for those on site at Torrey Pines, where fog shortened the pro-am and had folks crowding around Woods waiting to tee off, the scene of the former world No. 1 taking tips from Billy Horschel and Pat Perez while his new swing "consultant" could only look on in horror, recalled the later years of Seve Ballesteros who would listen to range attendants if he thought they could help him.

Even with all of the help, Woods still shanked a shot as Golf Channel showed him warming up live. Maybe something will happen overnight that allows him to deal with Torrey's high rough and increased green speed. But based on his recent track record, it's hard not to wonder what (sadly awful thing) Tiger Woods will do next.

Tiger tees off with new and former short game consultant Horschel and Rickie Fowler at 9:20 am PT on #10 North. Golf Channel coverage commences at 11:30 PT.
