The King Is Going To Scotland! Castle Stuart To Be Precise

I'm having trouble picturing his one, but Castle Stuart is getting a second course and it'll be an Arnold Palmer design. Gil Hanse and Mark Parsinen designed the first course there, which hosts the Scottish Open again next year.

Bradley Klein with the known details of Parsinen's selection of The King, who has taken the job site unseen.

Parsinen told Golfweek that the as yet unnamed Palmer course will start upland and behind the existing front nine, near the eponymous 17th-century castle that is within view when playing the current par-3 fourth hole. The new course will stretch west along a little bay formed at the bottom of the Moray Firth. The site is sandy and elevated, offering long views of the lower firth and downtown Inverness, seven miles to the southwest.

Palmer was asked about the project during Golf Channel booth visit Thursday at Bay Hill:

Arnold Palmer: “Yes, I do.  I am going to build a golf course in Scotland, and I’m going to start right after the first of the year.  And I am going to the Open at St. Andrews this coming year. Originally I wasn’t thinking about it. But now at Castle Stuart, we are going to build a really good golf course and we’ve got some nice property north of St. Andrews by a few miles.  I’m looking forward to it.  I’m really looking forward to getting over there and doing a golf course that will challenge all of those Alastair Johnsons that I know.  Being a St. Andrews man, I’m there. I’m looking forward to building a golf course there in Scotland.”
