Cart Drivers Clash! Inkster And Annika Bicker During Solheim

Is there anything better than team golf? The emotion, the bad uniforms, the bickering...anyway, so glad a version will be part of the Oly...anyway, the Solheim Cup could be a European blowout if the U.S. doesn't finish strong in rain-delayed four-ball play Sunday morning, reports Golfweek's Beth Ann Baldry.

But more important is this from Baldry on the cart drivers from both sides getting a little chippy, minus TV audio (sadly):

That’s Inkster in a nutshell, though she was mum about the heated discussion she had with European assistant captain Annika Sorenstam and captain Carin Koch early Saturday morning.

TV cameras caught the spat, but no volume.

“I don't really want to get into it,” Inkster said. “It's petty women stuff.”

An LPGA official said the discussion concerned the subject of assistant captains giving advice, which is prohibited. The issue came up with Sorenstam two years ago in Colorado.

Koch also declined to comment.

Randall Mell asked both captains about the incident and didn't get much insight, just some healthy sarcasm.

Koch also declined to detail what specifically was at issue when approached by GolfChannel.com at the first tee, but two years ago a similar dispute occurred when Americans complained at Colorado Golf Club that assistant captain Annika Sorenstam improperly gave advice to players during competition. In a match there, Americans complained that Sorenstam told a European caddie to concede a putt for par to Paula Creamer so Creamer couldn’t show American teammate Lexi Thompson the line for a more important birdie putt. That led to European player Jodi Ewart-Shadoff conceding Creamer’s putt.
