Spieth Shows How He Thinks Differently Than Many Of His Peers

The constant dialogue and search for answers makes Jordan Spieth fascinating to watch for most and maybe annoying to others who prefer their golfers quiet. Yet any student of the game must admire his constant efforts to scrutinize while never turning the extreme analysis into a negative. (Not yet anyway.)

In Tuesday's Northern Trust Open press conference at Riviera, Spieth revealed how he adjusts his game from Pebble Beach to Riviera. Even though both sport tiny poa annual greens, he says Riviera's react differently. While he didn't mention the kikuyu approaches that force approaches to be carried onto the putting surface, he did cite another influence on his thinking.

What I found fascinating (and wrote about for GolfDigest.com) was Spieth's suggestion of changing his iron flight attack to keep himself below the hole. While Spieth's putting gets so much credit, check out how he plans to tweak his approach game to give himself more uphill putts. That kind of attention to detail may seem obsessive to some, but is pretty indicative of his intelligent approach to the game.

It also never hurts to have this much Team Titleist and Trackman brainpower on the range to help get those irons just right:
