"Trump...would be aghast at how dead the atmosphere has been"

Building on the points made by Bob Harig a few days ago, the New York Post's Mark Cannizzaro is pretty sure Donald Trump would not be pleased with the lack of buzz through three days at Doral.

Even with a great field, provocative course and traditional March date, the WGC Cadillac's lack of energy comes through on television. Cannizzaro writes:

There are several reasons at play that explain the lack of buzz this week, beginning with Cadillac being in its final contract year and not spending as much money as it has in the past to promote the event.

There, too, is speculation that because Trump has become so polarizing with his political bombast, that also is keeping fans away.

Not likely considering this has been the case prior to The Donald's presidential run.

This is a repeat of the situation just weeks ago at Riviera, where outgoing sponsor Northern Trust and the lameduck operator, PGA Tour Championship Management, slashed spending. And it wasn't because they were hoping to pass on more money to their charities of choice.
