Looks like Ben Curtis was the only one to get bumped out of the top 125, and I think he is exempt anyway.

Curtis with his win at the 2003 British received a five-year exemption to the PGA Tour. It expires at the end of 2008.

BTW, 2008 will be the last year anyone who received the old 10-year exemption could be eligible.

Curtis also won two events in 2006, I think. Ted Purdy missed the cut and dropped out of the 125.

I have always felt sorry for him after the Harbourtown waste bunker incident with Cink - I thought he got jobbed.

Corey Pavin outside the top 150; what's his status now?

Bob Tway, Mark Brooks and Lee Janzen; not yet 50. What's their status?

A flock of name players in the 125 to 150 gray zone: Brett Quigley, Frank Lickliter II, Joe Durant, Harrison Frazar, and Billy Andrade. Any of those guys getting any special exemptions for a card for next year based on career status, injury, one-time exception, etc.?

Corey Pavin and Joe Durant are both exempt through 2008 with their respective wins on tour in 2006. Read elsewhere that Brett Quigley will get a partial injury exemption (certain number of events) to earn the difference between the 125th spot and his final 2007 earnings.

Players not otherwise exempt that finish between 126-150 on the money list will get into 16-20 events however you do not have control over your schedule. Many of these guys can also rely on past champion status and sponsor exemptions.

The guys that are really huring are those that finish outside of the top 150 and have no other type of status (i,e. - past champion).

I think I read that Brett Quigley has seven tournaments as his medical exemption since he had knee surgery. He apparently decided to go ahead with the surgery when he was in a position that his spot in the top 125 seemed secure, but the number came back much higher than was anticipated. I also think that Billy Andrade could probably play a large # of events on sponsor's exemptions -- strikes me as the kind of guy who's been good to sponsors (showing up to pro-ams without an "attitude" and things like that) over the years. . .

Went to college with Andrade. Wholeheartedly agree...Wake had a bunch of nice guys at the time, including Andrade and hard-luck Len Mattiace.

Didn't know that the British Open only carried a 5 year tour exemption. Probably a good idea.

Anyone think the 125 exempt spots is too many?

There are so many good players, maybe it should be more difficult to remain all-exempt.
