B.C.S. Showing More Restraint Than PGA Tour!?

Reading Pete Thamel's story in which he quotes the fastest rising executive in sports on possible changes to college football's BCS, I was struck by Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott's stance on adding events as the PGA Tour moves to a "fiscal year" calendar. It should be noted that Scott used to run tennis' WTA.

Scott said he planned to present these ideas to groups of students and football players and solicit their thoughts. But he said that he would like to see college football leaders think “long and hard about raising the standards.”

From his experience in professional tennis, Scott said he found that the more events that were held, the more watered down the product became.

“We need to get away from the societal trend of everyone getting a trophy,” he said.

It's a strange day when the college football brass may end up showing more restraint than the PGA Tour.
