RTJ II To Undertake Poppy Hills II

Always love to hear about architects getting another chance to get their design, just pulls on my heart-strings I tell ya.

Jerry Stewart with the lowdown on Robert Trent Jones Jr. redoing his NCGA course with the hope of returning it to a form of glory the first iteration never enjoyed.

"We're very appreciative to those involved and the community support that enabled us to get this approval," NCGA/Poppy Holding Inc. CEO Lyn Nelson said. "We're very excited about the prospects for Poppy Hills."

The course renovation, to be done by original architect Robert Trent Jones II Design Firm and expected to be completed by the end of 2013 with the course re-opening in the spring of 2014, will include the installation of a new irrigation system, sand capping of the entire course layout to provide superior drainage and the construction of new green complexes. Overall, 13 holes will be "modestly" modified, while five holes will be "significantly" modified. There will be 18 new greens and bunker complexes.
