Wimbledon A Rout, Let's Focus On A Great Sunday Of Golf!

Three Open Championship spots are up for grabs in the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, but a prestigious title, big money and major momentum heading into The Open are also at stake at Dundonald Links.

All eyes are certainly on Ian Poulter, as Alistair Tait notes for Golfweek. The wind is up, the sun is out and it should be a great day of links golf.

Remember, U.S. coverage is split today between Golf Channel and NBC.

Shanshan Feng leads the U.S. Women's Open, with Cristie Kerr lurking, reports Beth Ann Baldry. Stacy Lewis experienced an epic disaster. Fox has the coverage from Trump Bedminster.

Meanwhile The President is taking visitors in his special tent, including several players. A trophy ceremony appearances looms!

At the John Deere Classic, Patrick Rodgers leads but Kelly Kraft hit quite possibly one of the wackiest shots you'll ever see, Dan Kilbridge notes for Golfweek.

Great leaderboard for the US Open. Ball strikers at the top. Shanshan, Amy Yang, Sung Hyun, Mirim, So Yeon. Plus an amateur.

Good luck to Jeongeun6 playing with Kerr.

Look for the golf industry to count US AM's as Major's again now that Federer has 19 slams.

Hope POTUS gets out and walks around. After bring unable to walk 800 yds in Italy he needs the exercise.

The idea of health care care is moot when you're that unfit and over weight.

Euro Tour on NBC? That I've never seen before. And probably won't ever again.

Interesting leaderboard for the women although this "amateur" apparently played in 35 events on the KLPGA last year. Now that is a professional amateur.

Go, Donald. Grab 'em by the Putter!!!

I'm really unimpressed by Trump Bedminster. Too much water, and a complete lack of character.

but then, I am not a fan of Fazio golf courses. What a joke he did to Oak Hill.

I am no architecture expert, but the course looks really nice to me. And for the leader to be at -9 midway through the 4th round seems just about the perfect score.

Trump continues his weekend marketing of Trump golf courses at taxpayer expense. Apparently he lacks the stamina to work 7 days a week which should be required of a president.

Scottish Open has been on NBC since Phil last won in '13; probably led to Open, Senior Open, and Women's British (latter two done with IMG)

DJT needs to get his enormous arse back to DC and work. So weird watching a POTUS pimp his club.

Amazed how often Trump invades this golf blog. It's like adding ketchup to the best steak you can imagine.

I wonder how the Prez feels about the dearth of Americans on the leaderboard? From the shot on Fox he is wearing a red hat but you can't see the front. What does it say? Make America(n Female Golfers) Great Again?

Had SH Park not bogeyed 72nd hole last year, Gerina Piller wouldn't have been in Rio
http://golfweek.com/2016/07/11/olympics-women-field-lpga-us-womens-open/ http://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central-blog/piller-qualifies-olympics-webb-misses/ I'd rather see Marina Alex in Iowa than Nelly Korda

Wow. Eva Braun waving to Hitler in his special viewing tent. Tax cuts at all costs, and ignore the disgusting everything else. Now I can put some more facts onto the annoyance I have for Kerr who had a surrogate carry one of her children.

Would love to see Trump speak at the ceremony. He could address the issue of no Yanks within a 9-iron of the lead.

Ginghin

It would have been even more interesting had Trump brought Steve Bannon along. How would he explain the lack of Caucasians in the first fifteen? The only one was Canadian and she bears a striking resemblance to Hilary.
07.16.2017 | Unregistered Commenterthe baron
@baron - While I would love to take credit for us Canucks, Marina Alex of the US was one ahead of Brooke. But we only have 1/10 the population of the US.
07.16.2017 | Unregistered CommenterWayner
I thought it was a good showing for the US women.
07.16.2017 | Unregistered CommenterDon
Without wishing to provoke the debate, Alex is of Latino heritage.

Irrespective of race, it was a great event that reflected the broadening appeal of women's golf throughout the world. I hope it rated well.

I am pleased to see Canadian golf is as strong as it has been in years.

Nice to see the two male winners on US soil both anchor **cough cough ** or not. What a joke of a 'rule'.
07.16.2017 | Unregistered CommenterBDF
Trump’s promotion of the event with eight separate tweets about the tournament over the past three days raised concerns he was using his platform as chief executive to promote an event from which the Trump Organization stands to gain financially.
07.17.2017 | Unregistered CommenterBuffett
Karma. The hat was made in China.
07.17.2017 | Unregistered CommenterFC
What was all that plane noise during the tournament? Distracting, I would assume for the players, and I thought it was a no fly zone since Trump was there. Bad audio watching Fox. Gulbis doesn't have a strong voice as a commentator; speaks to softly and hard to hear, too. Felt horribe for Stacy Lewis! I had high hopes for her.
07.17.2017 | Unregistered Commenternancy
The plane overhead, and the fighter jet intercept only happened because of him, the fans gawking at him, players having to walk by his box, be asked tons of questions about him, him in a box to right there in the middle of it al - all of it a distraction.

He should've been working on Making America Great again, not hanging out all weekend at a golf tournament But Trump is all about him so...

Old course that they played on is OK, typical Fazio. Wonder what Hanse or the like would've done with this piece of the property - obviously the best part of the land compared to the part the New course is on
07.17.2017 | Unregistered CommenterPaul
NBC's Celebrity event from Lake Tahoe was more interesting.
07.17.2017 | Unregistered CommenterSteven T.
@Paul, yes I knew about the fighter jet but there was noise throughout the broadcast. I agree with you about Trump. He just loves his golf properties and has to always be there. He thinks this is what makes America Great Again...a President who criticized Obama for playing golf yet he can't resist it every weekend it seems. What makes America great is not again, it always has been...we don't need Trump to remind us what we already knew and he is NOT what makes America great...again or ever. Just my thoughts.
07.17.2017 | Unregistered Commenternancy
@the Baron - Alex may be of Latino heritage but assuming that means her ancestors are from Spain then that would make her Caucasian.
07.17.2017 | Unregistered CommenterWayner
Who can confirm for fact that Marina Alex is of Latino heritage?
07.17.2017 | Unregistered CommenterPaul
Doesn't really matter what Alex's heritage is. The event rated poorly on tv which is sad because I enjoy the womens golf and hoped the US Open, with wider media distribution, would help its profile.

I hope it doesn't turn into a rehash of the PGA Tour with dull, flavorless and indistinguishable competitors playing mostly events that mean little other than big pay checks.
07.17.2017 | Unregistered Commenterthe baron
Baron don't talk about one's heritage or assume what it is if you can't confirm. You personally know the Alex family?
