Video: Chinese Can't Get Enough Of Michael Phelps' (Golf) Balls
/A sneak preview of next week's episode of The Haney Project and I must say, this is a problemtic habit of the Chinese galleries at Mission Hills.
When you come to think of it that is the secret of most of the great holes all over the world. They all have some kind of a twist. C.B. MACDONALD
A sneak preview of next week's episode of The Haney Project and I must say, this is a problemtic habit of the Chinese galleries at Mission Hills.
Big preliminary numbers from Friday's telecast of the 2013 WGC Cadillac:
· Round Two PRELIM: 1.5 HHs, 1,471,000 viewers. A 24 percent increase over same round in 2012 and a 45 percent increase from Thursday’s round one on Golf Channel.
· Highest rated / most watched early round since cable ratings started to be reported for this tournament (1995-2013).
· Highest rated / most watched early round since Friday’s second round at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola (Sept. 21, 2012, 1.6 HHs / 1,559,000 viewers)
Masterful breakdown from Jaime Diaz in Golf World Monday on Johnny Miller's almost-daily position switches on the anchoring ban, with some of the switches depending on who is visiting the booth. Look, many have waivered because it's a complex issue. But multiple positions in a week?
Can't wait for the U.S. Open when Johnny pats Mike Davis on the back for a job well done! Too bad NBC doesn't have the PGA so that Ted Bishop could get the same pat.
Go to the 6:35 mark to see Golf Channel yeller Michael Breed make Jay Leno's Tonight Show monologue in a segment called "It Looks Dirty But It's Not." (Okay, the big reveal is below the video...I couldn't help it.)
NBC used this new graphic to show where various driving distances finished on the 7th hole at Dove Mountain. I only saw it by watching the re-broadcast after reader Steve asked if I had seen it. Not coincidentally, this aired at the time Tim Finchem was live on Golf Channel talking about the tour's opposition to the anchoring ban.
It's not often we get good visual innovations in golf broadcasting that help put architectural features into context, but this one certainly does.
Also kind of amazing that Ian Poulter had the long drive.
